Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, triage and stabilize patients in a fast-paced, high-volume emergency department
• Deliver trauma and stroke care using critical thinking and evidence-based practice
• Monitor patients vigilantly and document care accurately in Cerner
• Administer medications and manage infusion devices, including Baxter pumps
• Operate and interpret data from GE monitoring equipment
• Coach and provide real-time feedback to colleagues to support continuous improvement
• Champion patient experience principles (AIDET, respectful communication, regular updates)
• Follow unit-specific policies, safety protocols and required documentation standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in North Carolina) — required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with at least 1 year of ER experience
• Experience in a Level II trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or a high-volume ED (preferred)
• Certifications required before start: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
• Comfortable with rotating schedules and every-other-weekend coverage
• Strong teamwork mindset and ability to coach and deliver feedback in real time
• Cerner documentation experience preferred

Education

• Active RN license required; ADN or BSN in Nursing preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing fundamentals, including trauma and stroke care
• Patient monitoring and rapid assessment skills
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic documentation
• Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and GE patient monitors
• Excellent communication, AIDET-style patient engagement and bedside manner
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume ED and adjust to fluctuating patient ratios
• Team collaboration, mentoring, and on-the-spot coaching
