Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based emergency nursing care to patients of all ages
- Rapidly assess and triage incoming patients to prioritize care and interventions
- Initiate and manage emergency protocols, including airway, cardiac and trauma care
- Administer medications, perform IV therapies and manage complex treatments
- Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and ancillary staff to coordinate care
- Document patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and follow-up plans
- Maintain situational awareness and contribute to a safe, efficient ED environment
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or eligibility via Compact RN license
- Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Department nursing experience
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) strongly preferred
- Current immunizations and ability to pass background and drug screening
- Strong clinical judgment, ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Triage and rapid patient assessment skills in emergency settings
- Proficiency with IV starts, medication administration and emergency procedures
- Familiarity with cardiac monitoring and basic EKG interpretation
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment and making quick decisions
- Clear communication and teamwork with multidisciplinary care teams
- Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic medical records
