Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, compassionate care to medical/surgical and critically ill patients from admission through discharge
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including ventilators, arterial (A) lines, central and invasive lines
- Monitor and manage multiple IV pumps and infusions with vigilant medication administration
- Assess patient status and implement established policies and procedures with minimal supervision
- Serve as a clinical leader on the unit and assist with precepting new staff and students
- Coordinate care and discharge planning while collaborating with providers, charge nurses, and leadership
- Delegate and provide direction to RN, LPN, CNA, housekeeping, and dietary staff to ensure safe patient care
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN licensure required
- BLS and ACLS required
- PALS, EPNC, TNCC certifications preferred
- Practice in an advanced medical/surgical unit and recent critical care nursing experience required
- Proven ability to manage ventilatory support, chest tubes, arterial and invasive lines, and multiple IV pumps
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to function as a unit clinical leader
Education
- Degree from an accredited nursing program
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and ventilatory support
- Arterial/A-line management and central line care
- IV management and multi-pump infusion experience
- Chest tube management and invasive line care
- Advanced medical/surgical nursing principles and procedures
- Ability to use basic office equipment and clinical documentation systems
- Clinical leadership, precepting, and effective interprofessional collaboration
