Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct clinical evaluation and treatment for patients (approximately 80% of the role)
- Lead clinical oversight of the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high-quality patient care
- Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Design, oversee, and coordinate clinical education and competency programs for OT staff
- Develop, maintain, and enforce OT policies and procedures covering scope of care, documentation, and discharge planning
- Ensure regulatory compliance with state practice act, Board requirements, and professional standards
- Oversee documentation standards and discharge planning to support safe, patient-centered transitions
- Contribute to program development and administrative initiatives (approximately 20% of the role)
Qualifications
- Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
- Current California Occupational Therapy license issued by the appropriate state board (required)
- Eligibility and demonstrated ability to supervise COTAs and Rehabilitation Technicians
- Familiarity with state practice act and regulatory standards for occupational therapy
- Strong clinical evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation skills
- Experience or aptitude for clinical education, staff competency assessment, and program development
- Membership in AOTA preferred
Education
- Graduate of an AOTA-approved school of Occupational Therapy
