Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist using therapeutic procedures and modalities
- Implement assistive device training to improve patient mobility and independence
- Deliver targeted interventions to restore muscle strength, range of motion, coordination and body alignment
- Apply pain management techniques to improve patient comfort and function
- Follow treatment plans developed by supervising Physical Therapists and document patient progress
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure safe, effective and patient-centered rehabilitation
Qualifications
- Valid California License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant (LPTA)
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
- Ability to perform therapeutic procedures, modalities and assistive device training
- Comfort working under clinical supervision and following the State Practice Act
Education
- Graduated from an approved Physical Therapy Assistant Program
Knowledge & Skills
- Therapeutic procedures and essential modalities
- Use and training in assistive devices
- Muscle strengthening techniques and range-of-motion interventions
- Coordination, mobility and body alignment strategies
- Pain management approaches and patient-centered care
- Direct patient care and clinical documentation consistent with supervision
