Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable PCU patients
- Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor hemodynamics and telemetry continuously
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment including A-lines, invasive lines, chest tubes and ventilators
- Administer and manage multiple IV pumps and complex medication regimens safely
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans
- Lead and precept staff, offering clinical guidance and supporting team development
- Provide direct care from admission through discharge, including discharge planning and patient education
- Delegate appropriately to RN/LPN/CNA team members and coordinate with ancillary services
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
Qualifications
- Current Montana RN license (required)
- BLS and ACLS required; PALS required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Recent practice in advanced medical/surgical unit with Progressive Care or Critical Care experience
- Experience with central line care, arterial lines, chest tubes and ventilator support
- Ability to precept and act as a clinical leader on the unit
- EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
Education
- Degree from a Nursing Program (ADN or BSN)
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient assessment and clinical judgment for progressive care populations
- Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
- Hemodynamic monitoring and A-line management
- Central line and invasive line management
- Ventilator support (noninvasive and invasive) and chest tube care
- IV pump management and complex infusion therapy
- Familiarity with Advanced Nursing Principles and Procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for interdisciplinary collaboration
