Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer infusion therapies and chemotherapy safely and accurately following facility protocols
- Assess and monitor oncology patients before, during and after treatments to ensure optimal outcomes
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care plans and communicate changes
- Educate patients and families about infusion procedures, side-effect management and home care
- Document treatments, assessments and patient education clearly in EPIC to maintain continuity of care
- Recognize and respond quickly to infusion reactions or other emergencies using current BLS practices
- Maintain strict adherence to chemotherapy certification standards and safe handling procedures
Qualifications
- Current California RN license (required)
- Chemotherapy certification with recent chemotherapy administration experience (required)
- Recent infusion clinic experience is a must
- Minimum four years of acute nursing experience in an oncology setting
- Current BLS certification
- Experience using EPIC EMR for documentation and care coordination
Education
- Valid California RN license (required). Nursing diploma/ADN/BSN per facility policy
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of infusion therapy protocols and safe chemo handling
- Skilled in IV access, pump programming and infusion troubleshooting
- Proficient documentation and electronic charting in EPIC
- Excellent patient education and communication skills for oncology populations
- Ability to triage changes in patient status and act decisively in emergencies
- Teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced outpatient infusion setting
