Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect.
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to nursing staff to ensure timely care.
- Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities.
- Accurately document care provided and maintain clear communication with the care team.
- Follow infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies to protect residents and staff.
Qualifications
- Active GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification in the state of Maryland (required).
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain promptly).
- Compassionate approach and experience working with older adults preferred.
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently on assigned shifts.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Completion of an approved GNA program and state certification required.
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic clinical care skills and hands-on experience with ADLs (activities of daily living).
- Strong communication and teamwork — clear, respectful interactions with residents and staff.
- Knowledge of basic infection control and safety procedures.
- Comfortable with simple documentation and following care plans.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to provide person-centered care.
