Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate bedside care to swing-bed and acute inpatients, ensuring safety and dignity
- Administer IV therapy and medications per scope and policy with accuracy and attention
- Monitor and document patient status, vital signs, and clinical changes promptly and clearly
- Collaborate closely with RNs, providers, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Respond effectively to emergent situations following ACLS/PALS protocols when required
- Educate patients and families about care plans, recovery expectations, and discharge preparation
- Support transitions of care for swing-bed patients to promote optimal recovery and discharge outcomes
Qualifications
- Active Alaska LPN license (required)
- Current IV certification (required)
- Current ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
- Comfortable and experienced with swing bed care and acute inpatient nursing
- Valid professional credentials and the ability to meet facility onboarding requirements
Education
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) diploma or equivalent
Knowledge & Skills
- IV therapy and safe medication administration
- Assessment of acute and post-acute/swing-bed patients
- Basic life support and emergency response following ACLS/PALS guidance
- Strong communication with patients, families, and clinical teams
- Time management and prioritization on a busy inpatient floor
- Documentation accuracy and attention to detail
