Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and assess patient concerns quickly and compassionately
- Coordinate care across cardiology services to keep patients on track
- Assist and operate Exercise Stress Tests and Tilt Table Tests safely
- Perform EKGs and manage heart monitoring equipment with attention to detail
- Start IVs for diagnostic testing and ensure specimen/procedure readiness
- Educate patients on cardiac conditions, medications, and treatment plans
- Occasionally assist with patient rooming to support clinic flow
- Support the EMR conversion from Athena to Epic by following best practices and workflows
Qualifications
- Current Colorado RN license in good standing
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association
- Minimum 3 years of cardiology-specific clinic/ambulatory nursing experience
- Experience working with Athena and Epic electronic medical records
- Proven competency with EKGs, IV starts, and heart monitoring equipment
- Ability to complete Nursys license verification as requested
Knowledge & Skills
- Cardiac nursing and clinic/ambulatory workflows
- EKG acquisition and interpretation fundamentals
- IV insertion for diagnostic testing
- Exercise Stress Test and Tilt Table Test protocols
- Triage, care coordination, and patient education techniques
- Familiarity with Athena and Epic EMR systems and EMR conversion processes
- Operation and troubleshooting of heart monitoring equipment
