Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct, individualized critical care to CCU/ICU patients using evidence-based nursing practices
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care in coordination with the multidisciplinary team
- Prepare, administer and document medications and promptly report adverse reactions
- Monitor and interpret hemodynamic data, cardiac rhythms and ventilator parameters to guide care
- Obtain and process lab specimens; interpret results and adjust care per protocols
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy and other invasive procedures per unit protocol
- Respond rapidly to life-threatening events using established critical care protocols
- Educate patients and families on post-treatment care, medication management and recovery plans
Qualifications
- Valid nursing license in state of practice or Nurse Licensure Compact eligibility
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association
- Verification of suicide training for compact licensure and Nursys e-Notify demographic verification
- Proof of right to work in the United States
- Critical care/ICU or CCU experience in a hospital setting
- Comfortable with ventilator/respirator management, advanced cardiac monitoring and hemodynamic assessment
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation and telemetry monitoring
- Ventilator and respirator management
- IV therapy, phlebotomy and medication administration
- Patient assessment and critical care nursing interventions
- Telemetry equipment, central venous and pulmonary artery pressure monitoring
- Oxygen therapy and advanced life support response
- Lab specimen collection and diagnostic test interpretation
