Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients and their families
• Continuously monitor fetal heart tracings and interpret electronic fetal monitoring
• Perform neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and respond quickly in emergent situations
• Deliver advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and basic life support (BLS) when needed
• Collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, and neonatal teams to optimize outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions and patient education accurately in the medical record
• Participate in Trinity Specialty competency testing and skills checklists to maintain excellence
• Verify and maintain required licenses and certifications to meet regulatory standards

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure with ability to verify license/certification
• Experience or interest in Labor & Delivery nursing; comfort with high-acuity maternal care
• NIHSS, BLS, ACLS, NRP and AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications (current)
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Trinity Skills Checklist
• Current immunizations and required health screenings per facility policy
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and a teamwork mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in fetal heart monitoring and interpretation (AWHONN standards)
• Skilled in maternal and neonatal assessment and triage
• Experience with neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and peripartum emergencies
• Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced L&D environment and prioritize patient safety
• Strong patient/family education and bedside manner
