Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care as the primary nurse for patients in the Patient Care Unit (PCU)
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to create and implement individualized care plans
• Perform thorough patient assessments, monitor changes, and escalate concerns in a timely manner
• Administer medications and treatments safely and document in the medical record with accuracy
• Support patient and family education, ensuring understanding of diagnoses, treatments, and discharge plans
• Act as a resource in a rural Critical Access Hospital setting—exercise sound clinical judgment with limited on-site resources

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Colorado, or ability to obtain prior to start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — may be obtained upon hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• At least 2 years of experience as an RN
• Able to safely function in a low-oxygen environment (approximately 8,000 ft elevation); healthy enough for high-altitude work
• Comfortable providing primary nursing care in a rural Critical Access Hospital

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience working in Patient Care Unit (PCU) or similar inpatient settings
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Medication administration and safe documentation practices
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams
• Pediatric care skills supported by PALS certification
• Adaptability and resourcefulness in a rural hospital environment
