Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate respiratory care and treatment for patients with respiratory and cardiac illness
• Perform ventilator management and continuously monitor patients on ventilatory support
• Assess patients’ physical and mental status and apply clinical judgment to guide care
• Deliver care for COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease and other pulmonary conditions
• Participate in DNV program education and integrate regulatory standards into daily practice
• Multitask effectively and anticipate patient and staff needs in a dynamic clinical environment
• Conduct group class instruction and patient education when required
• Support hospital mission, policies, and participate in required trainings and other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Current Oregon RT License (required)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (required)
• CRASE training preferred; required if assignment extends beyond 6 months
• Comfortable floating to other departments and delivering care across patient populations
• Strong communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program

Knowledge & Skills

• Ventilator management and ventilatory support monitoring
• Patient monitoring and assessment for respiratory and cardiopulmonary symptoms
• Care for COPD, asthma, interstitial lung disease and other pulmonary diseases
• Familiarity with DNV regulatory standards and patient safety goals
• Ability to perform clinical, clerical, and interpersonal duties efficiently
• Group class instruction and patient education skills
• Multitasking and prioritization in fast-paced clinical settings
