Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients using age-specific criteria and make timely, evidence-based clinical judgments
• Plan and implement individualized care plans, then evaluate outcomes and adjust as needed
• Monitor telemetry and interpret heart rhythms to detect and respond to changes in status
• Administer cardiac medications and titrate per protocols (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Heparin, Cardene, Dobutamine, Lasix, Bumex)
• Recognize signs and symptoms of stroke and perform stroke assessments (NIHSS) with appropriate interventions
• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity of care
• Teach and mentor non-RN staff (LPN/PCT/Unit Secretary) to support safe, high-quality care
• Document care accurately and maintain punctual attendance for assigned shifts

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant Med-Surg/Telemetry nursing experience (required)
• Active Ohio RN license (Nursys) or Compact RN license (must be active)
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Current NIHSS certification (required)
• Demonstrated competency in telemetry and heart rhythm interpretation
• Competence with cardiac medications and titration protocols
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Willingness to float to units within scope of practice and work 12-hour night shifts reliably

• Telemetry monitoring and heart rhythm interpretation
• Medication administration and titration for cardiac meds
• Patient assessment, care planning, implementation and evaluation
• Stroke assessment (NIHSS) and rapid recognition of neurologic change
• Critical thinking and prompt intervention when patient status changes
• Teaching/mentoring non-RN staff and effective communication
• Experience with EMR: MediTech
• Dependability, punctuality, and professional bedside manner
