Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled occupational therapy interventions as a Certified OT Assistant to help patients regain independence
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to implement individualized treatment plans
- Monitor and document patient progress clearly and promptly
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic activities, safety and home program carryover
- Assist with adaptive equipment, splinting, and therapeutic modalities under the OT plan of care
- Support safe transfers, positioning, and functional mobility training
- Participate in care planning and discharge planning to promote successful transitions
Qualifications
- Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
- Completion of an accredited OTA/Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current state licensure or eligibility as required by facility
- Basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
- Experience in inpatient rehab, skilled nursing, or similar settings preferred
- Ability to pass background check and any facility-specific screenings
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in OT therapeutic techniques and activity analysis
- Strong clinical documentation and charting skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with nurses, therapists and physicians
- Knowledge of adaptive equipment and assistive device training
- Good communication and patient education skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced rehab environment
