Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering individualized treatment plans that improve mobility and quality of life
• Lead therapeutic exercise sessions and hands-on interventions under the PTs supervision
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately and promptly in the medical record
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and achieve patient-centered goals
• Maintain equipment, ensure a safe treatment area, and follow infection control practices

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New Jersey or eligible for state licensure
• Completion of an accredited PTA program and active PTA credential
• Current BLS/CPR certification required or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working in an outpatient/rehab contract setting with adults and geriatric populations
• Ability to work the assigned schedule including weekends as required by the facility
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent completion of an accredited PTA curriculum

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and modalities
• Solid documentation and charting abilities with attention to clinical detail
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and common rehab diagnoses
• Ability to instruct patients and caregivers in safe mobility and home programs
• Familiarity with infection control, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance
• Excellent interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff
