Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform clinical support procedures such as blood draws, specimen collection, and lab tests with accuracy and care
- Administer injections and childhood immunizations within MA scope and protocols
- Take and document patient vitals and assist the physician during exams to ensure excellent patient care
- Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and requisition supplies as needed to keep the clinic running smoothly
- Manage medical record documentation, complete referral forms and lab slips, and help maintain accurate charts
- Answer and return patient phone calls as directed, providing clear instructions and compassionate support
- Assist patients with preparation for exams and procedures, ensuring comfort and safety
- Support nursing and clinical staff as requested, functioning as a flexible and reliable team member
Qualifications
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant curriculum (minimum 2 years of MA training) is required
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a medical setting
- Current certification as a Medical Assistant and ability to maintain certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA required
- LPN candidates will be considered as acceptable alternative
- Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, emotional stability, and the ability to handle stressful situations calmly
Education
- Completion of a formal Medical Assistant program (minimum 2 years of curriculum)
Knowledge & Skills
- Phlebotomy and specimen collection skills
- Administering injections and immunizations
- Accurate measurement and recording of patient vital signs
- Assisting physicians during exams and clinical procedures
- Medical record documentation and familiarity with clinic workflows
- Phone triage and patient communication
- Supply inventory and requisitioning
- Experience or comfort working in gastroenterology or orthopedics settings is a plus
- Teamwork, flexibility, and a patient-centered approach
