Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), typically 3 nights per week; role is on a 12D/N rotating contract so you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination depending on unit needs. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri day shift, Week 2 36 hours on-unit with a preceptor. Schedule requests are self-entered and final schedules are balanced and posted every 4 weeks. Weekend coverage variable based on unit needs.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care for adults and geriatrics on a mixed acuity surgical oncology PCU/Med-Surg unit
- Administer and monitor chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, insulin and heparin drips, and blood transfusions safely and according to protocol
- Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond to cardiac emergencies
- Manage specialty procedures such as chest tube and tracheostomy care, and support BiPAP/CPAP patients
- Follow strict infection prevention protocols and lead efforts to minimize patient falls
- Document care accurately in EPIC and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, PT, respiratory, and social services
- Support orientation and precepting activities, helping new staff and travelers become confident members of the unit
- Escalate oncologic emergencies and coordinate rapid responses to ensure timely, lifesaving interventions
Qualifications
- Current RN licensure in the state of Ohio (or compact state eligibility) preferred
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, with required experience met within the last 3 years and at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
- PCU experience required; surgical oncology or med-surg/PCU experience strongly preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and NIHSS required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
- Comfortable working nights and flexible to float to other acute care oncology units as needed
- Ability to complete a 72-hour orientation including on-unit preceptorship
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
- Active RN license (state as required) and required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with EPIC electronic charting and documentation
- Skilled in cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Strong IV therapy skills including infusion pumps such as Alaris, and managing drips (insulin, heparin)
- Experience with chemotherapy administration and safety procedures
- Familiarity with GE B450 monitors, bladder scanners, and Stryker beds
- Competent in chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and BiPAP/CPAP maintenance
- Excellent infection prevention practices and fall risk mitigation
- Effective communication and teamwork across interdisciplinary care teams
