Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Variable 12-hour shifts (Traveler's choice: 4x12 or 3x12). Day shift: 07:00 AM - 07:00 PM (Days only when assigned). Night shift: 07:00 PM - 07:00 AM (Nights only when assigned). Shifts will be either Days or Nights depending on facility needs; caregivers are not routinely asked to rotate between day and night.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate assistance with Activities of Daily Living (feeding, bathing, toileting, bed baths and linens) to preserve dignity and comfort
- Perform and document vital signs (BP, pulse, respirations, temperature including orthostatic readings) and report meaningful changes promptly
- Conduct glucose point-of-care testing with glucometer and manage pulse oximetry/oxygen per resident needs
- Follow infection control practices, including proper donning/removing of PPE and isolation precautions, to keep residents and staff safe
- Execute safe patient transfers using appropriate equipment (Skylift, Hoyer) and techniques
- Implement pressure injury prevention strategies and skin care routines to reduce resident risk
- Recognize and report changes in patient condition clearly and timely to nursing leadership
- Chart accurately using ECS to maintain continuity of care and compliance with facility standards
- Float within your scope to meet facility needs while prioritizing resident safety
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification (valid CNA in another state accepted if AK CNA application submitted) — AK CNA application must already be submitted to apply
- Completion of a formal CNA training program with verification (certificate or transcript) if AK license is pending
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of Long Term Care (LTC) experience required
- Previous travel assignment experience required (first-time travelers will not be accepted)
- Ability to provide documentation of Alaska CNA application (submission proof, fees/FPs/education/license verifications)
- Willingness to work at least two of the three major winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) and adhere to RTO policy
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
- Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance if accepting facility-provided rental car
Education
- Completion of an approved CNA training program (CNA certificate or transcript required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in ADLs and resident personal care
- Proficient in obtaining and interpreting vital signs (including orthostatic measurements)
- Experience with glucometer testing and pulse oximetry/oxygen management
- Infection control expertise including isolation precautions and PPE use
- Pressure injury prevention and basic wound awareness
- Safe patient transfer techniques and familiarity with Skylift and Hoyer lifts
- Comfort caring for geriatrics, Alzheimer’s/dementia, TBI and behavioral health challenges
- Accurate documentation skills in ECS charting and timely reporting of clinical changes
