Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in implementing individualized rehab plans to help patients regain independence
- Deliver therapeutic interventions such as therapeutic exercise, gait training, and functional mobility practice
- Monitor patient progress and provide timely, accurate documentation in the medical record
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety techniques, and ongoing recovery strategies
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain a safe, organized treatment area and adhere to infection control and safety policies
Qualifications
- Current and unrestricted PTA license for Massachusetts (or compact/state-appropriate license)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- BLS/CPR certification required; additional certifications a plus
- Comfortable with documentation in electronic health record systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; compassionate, patient-centered approach
- Previous experience in rehabilitation or post-acute care preferred
Education
- Associate degree or completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and functional mobility techniques
- Knowledge of common orthopedic and neurologic rehab diagnoses and appropriate interventions
- Proficient in outcome measurement and progress reporting
- Good clinical judgment and the ability to follow skilled therapy plans
- Able to work collaboratively with PTs, nursing staff, and other members of the care team
