Shift Type: Rotating shifts (schedule varies), 36-hour guarantee per week; may include day, evening and night coverage and weekends as needed

Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients using age-specific criteria and clinical judgment to create safe care plans
- Plan, implement and evaluate individualized nursing care for telemetry and post-op cardiac patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond quickly to changes in condition
- Manage chest tubes, drains, temporary pacers, and assist with pericardial pacing wire removals
- Provide pre- and post-procedure care for radial and femoral access patients
- Troubleshoot and operate non-invasive ventilation (NIV) devices and high-flow oxygen systems
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and teach/guide LPNs, PCTs and unit support staff
- Float to different units within your skill set to support patient care where it’s needed most
Qualifications
- 2+ years of nursing experience — required
- Post-operative open heart care experience — required
- Chest tube and drain management experience — required
- Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm strip interpretation — required
- Active RN license in Ohio or Compact (Nursys must show active) — required
- Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications — required
- Critical care experience — highly preferred
- Experience with MediTech EMR — preferred
- Willingness to float to units within scope of practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Advanced knowledge of cardiac and pulmonary abnormalities
- Management of temporary pacers (pericardial and transcutaneous)
- Assisting with chest tube removal and other post-op cardiac procedures
- Non-invasive ventilation (NIV) use and high-flow oxygen delivery troubleshooting
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment and patient education skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
