Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming) with kindness and dignity
- Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper techniques to protect residents and yourself
- Monitor resident condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team to help ensure timely care
- Document care accurately and clearly to keep the care team informed and residents safe
- Help create a warm, home-like atmosphere through compassionate interactions and respectful communication
- Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean, safe environment for residents
- Collaborate with nurses and therapy staff to support individualized care plans and positive outcomes
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (or equivalent state nursing assistant certification)
- CPR/BLS certification required or willing to obtain upon hire
- Comfort working with older adults and a passion for geriatric care
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to perform physical aspects of the role, including lifting and assisting with mobility
- Previous experience in a long-term care, memory care, or assisted living setting preferred
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- State-approved GNA / Nursing Assistant certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care and ADL assistance
- Safe transfer and mobility techniques
- Infection control and hygiene practices
- Accurate charting and observational reporting
- Compassionate, patient-centered communication
- Familiarity with common geriatric conditions and care approaches
