Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming
- Support safe mobility and transfers while using proper body mechanics
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Help with meal assistance, feeding, and documentation of intake as needed
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents
- Engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities to support emotional well-being
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
- Current state registration or certification as required by Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Demonstrated ability to provide respectful, patient-centered care to older adults
- Comfortable working the listed day shift (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) when scheduled
- Ability to pass facility background checks and required screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved GNA program
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic understanding of geriatric care principles and elder needs
- Skillful in ADLs: bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance
- Good communication and documentation skills
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from nursing staff
- Strong teamwork, patience, and a calm, compassionate approach
