Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver skilled physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed PT
- Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care and communicating with the team
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility strategies
- Collaborate with PTs, nursing, and interdisciplinary staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Ensure equipment safety and proper use, and maintain accurate treatment records
Qualifications
- Current Physical Therapist Assistant license (California) or eligible to obtain licensure
- Graduation from an accredited PTA program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtain upon hire
- Prior experience in physical therapy settings preferred; new grads with strong clinical skills considered
- Strong communication and documentation skills, comfortable working in a team-based environment
- Ability to start ASAP and commit to a 13-week contract
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (Associate degree or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and functional mobility techniques
- Skilled in patient assessment, progress documentation, and treatment planning
- Familiarity with common rehab equipment and safety protocols
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and multitask in a fast-paced clinical setting
- Strong interpersonal skills and patient-focused bedside manner
- Comfortable using electronic health records and standard documentation practices
