Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist licensed physical therapists in delivering high-quality therapeutic interventions
- Provide hands-on treatment including therapeutic exercise, functional training, and modalities as directed
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting care plans per therapist guidance
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient-centered discharge planning
- Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and documentation requirements
Qualifications
- Licensed or license-eligible Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Massachusetts
- Graduated from an accredited PTA program
- Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Comfortable working with adult/geriatric populations in a rehabilitation setting
- Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude
- Prior outpatient or skilled rehab experience preferred but enthusiastic new grads are welcome
Education
- Associate degree or diploma from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and ADL retraining
- Skilled in documenting interventions and outcomes clearly and efficiently
- Ability to follow care plans and implement modifications under PT supervision
- Good clinical judgement, time management, and patient safety focus
- Compassionate patient education and motivational coaching skills
