Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist
- Deliver hands-on care and therapeutic exercises to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Monitor patient progress, document changes, and communicate results to the care team
- Assist with mobility training, transfers, and safe use of adaptive equipment
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and strategies for ongoing recovery
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and interdisciplinary staff to support patient goals
- Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment while following facility protocols
Qualifications
- Current state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in Wisconsin, or ability to obtain prior to start
- Active CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain before starting
- Experience working with adult and geriatric populations preferred
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to patient care
- Ability to pass facility background and health screenings as required
Education
- Associate degree in Physical Therapist Assistant or related accredited program
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on therapy techniques and therapeutic exercise implementation
- Patient assessment and progress documentation
- Safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Knowledge of common orthopedic and neurologic conditions seen in rehabilitation settings
- Familiarity with assistive devices and adaptive equipment
- Team collaboration and effective interdisciplinary communication
