Roles & Responsibilities

• Verify and accurately dispense medications in accordance with protocols and prescriptions
• Review medication orders for safety, interactions, dosing and appropriateness
• Provide clear, patient-centered counseling and education on medication use
• Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to optimize pharmacotherapy plans
• Document interventions, maintain accurate records, and ensure regulatory compliance
• Support emergency coverage needs by stepping in quickly and confidently

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted RPh license (current) — required
• Clinical experience as a pharmacist; per-diem or acute-care experience is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently during per-diem coverage and integrate with local teams
• Eligible to work in Texas and meet facility credentialing requirements

Education

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; BS in Pharmacy or equivalent considered

Knowledge & Skills

• Medication safety and error prevention best practices
• Familiarity with inpatient pharmacy workflows and electronic medication systems
• Drug interaction and dose adjustment knowledge
• Ability to interpret clinical orders and lab values as they impact pharmacotherapy
• Regulatory and compliance awareness (state board rules, controlled substance handling)
• Strong patient counseling and interdisciplinary communication skills
