Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor critically ill patients, responding quickly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, including vasoactive drips and complex regimens, with precision
• Manage ventilators and advanced respiratory support in collaboration with respiratory therapy
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to create and execute patient-centered plans
• Document thorough, timely patient assessments and interventions in the medical record
• Provide compassionate education and support to patients and their families during critical illness
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to improve outcomes

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license, eligible to practice in Alabama
• Critical care/ICU experience (previous ICU experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS encouraged or required depending on facility policy
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills in high-acuity settings
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) — BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical knowledge of critical care protocols and standards
• Skill in hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation
• Ventilator management and respiratory support familiarity
• Proficiency in medication administration and titration of critical infusions
• Effective communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization in high-stress situations
