Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and triage patients arriving in the emergency department with speed and compassion
• Provide direct patient care including medication administration, wound care, and critical interventions
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and execute care plans
• Communicate clearly with patients and families during high-stress situations to provide reassurance and information
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the medical record
• Respond to emergency codes and participate in department quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Hawaii or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Minimum ED/ER clinical experience preferred (new grads with strong emergency clinical training are welcome to apply)
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing patient acuity

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in emergency nursing assessment and triage principles
• Familiarity with common ED procedures and emergency equipment
• Excellent communication and patient-family education skills
• Comfort with rapid decision-making and working under pressure
• Basic electronic health record navigation and accurate documentation practices
