Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care across Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Special Care Nursery, Pediatrics and NICU
• Transcribe and implement physician orders and unit protocols accurately and promptly
• Coordinate care with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and delegate appropriately to ancillary staff
• Provide compassionate, individualized patient and family education to support recovery and newborn care
• Monitor patients and infants using appropriate equipment (including electronic fetal monitoring) and escalate concerns as needed
• Maintain accurate, confidential documentation and uphold legal and ethical standards of practice
• Participate in unit processes to improve patient outcomes and support unit efficiency
• Be ready for rapid-response/crisis situations with calm, decisive clinical action

Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license from the State of Wyoming (required)
• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing (required)
• Current BLS certification (required); current NRP, PALS and ACLS as applicable to unit assignment
• Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) within first year of orientation; Advanced EFM within 3 years of labor orientation (for labor nurses)
• Previous hospital experience preferred, especially in Labor & Delivery, NICU or Special Care Nursery
• Ability to work independently, communicate clearly, prioritize tasks and protect patient confidentiality

Education

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and care planning across maternal-newborn and pediatric populations
• Care coordination and delegation within multidisciplinary teams
• Strong patient education and communication abilities
• Excellent organization, time management and problem-solving skills
• Comfort with electronic documentation and computer literacy
• Professionalism, empathy and customer-service focus in patient interactions
