Medical Assistant - Rheumatology
Location: Seattle, WA

Shift Type: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM; Every other Monday or Wednesday 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM (3x10-hour days + 1x5-hour day; total 4 working days/week) Day shift
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $34 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Room patients and record accurate vital signs in EPIC to support efficient visits
- Obtain 12-lead EKGs and pulse oximetry and prepare patients for exams
- Perform telephone triage and follow-up phone calls with empathy and clarity
- Prepare charts, verify insurance, and complete authorization paperwork to keep workflows smooth
- Assist with procedure setup by preparing aseptic and sterile trays
- Manage scheduling, pharmacy refill calls, and supply stocking to keep clinics running
- Float between North Gate and Beacon Hill clinics as needed and communicate schedule changes promptly
- Maintain meticulous documentation of history, medications, and allergies to ensure patient safety
Qualifications
- MA-C certification required; MA-R or pending MA not accepted
- BLS certification required at time of signature
- At least 6 months experience working as an MA in an adult outpatient clinic
- EPIC charting experience required
- Reliable personal transportation required; candidates should not rely on public transit
- Able to float between clinic locations within scope of practice
- First-time contract clinicians are welcome; must have no pending license
Education
- MA-C certification (required)
- BLS certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- EPIC charting and electronic documentation
- Rooming patients and obtaining accurate vitals
- 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition and basic interpretation workflow
- Telephone triage, patient follow-up calls, and pharmacy refill coordination
- Chart preparation, insurance verification, and authorization forms
- Sterile/aseptic tray setup and assisting with exams and minor procedures
- Supply ordering and clinic stocking, plus strong administrative organization
- Patient positioning, recording history, medications, and allergy reconciliation
