Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality intermediate cardiac and stepdown nursing care to CVU patients with compassion and precision
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips and act quickly on abnormalities
• Titrate vasoactive drips and other cardiac medications per protocol to maintain hemodynamic stability
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document care accurately in EPIC
• Collaborate with cardiology, hospitalists, intensivists, RTs, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes
• Support cath lab, EP, thoracic, and structural heart programs as needed
• Troubleshoot BiPAP/CPAP and assist respiratory therapy when required
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families during recovery

Qualifications

• Current RN license (Nebraska or compact state eligibility as applicable)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience; at least 1 year preferred caring for cardiac/stepdown/telemetry patients
• Demonstrated ability to titrate drips and manage common cardiac infusions (e.g., amiodarone, nitro, nicardipine, epinephrine, diltiazem)
• Experience reading and interpreting telemetry monitoring
• Comfortable using EPIC for charting and documentation
• Valid driver’s license required for submission (radius rule compliance)

Education

• Active Registered Nurse license required; BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Intermediate cardiac/stepdown care and post-surgical patient management
• IV medication administration and titration of drips
• Familiarity with cath lab, electrophysiology, and structural heart patient needs
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record
• Troubleshooting BiPAP/CPAP and working with respiratory therapy
• Strong assessment skills and ability to prioritize in a 1:3–1:4 nurse-to-patient environment
