Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity critical care for oncology and MICU patients, including post-thoracic surgery and esophagectomy care
• Manage ventilated patients and perform ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy safely in accordance with chemo certification
• Perform central line, PICC and port access/care and manage blood product administration
• Support dialysis patients using Tablo and manage CVVHD/CRRT therapies
• Assist with chest tube insertion/removal and care for surgical wounds with drains or wound vac
• Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, manage continuous IV sedation and emergency medications
• Use EPIC for documentation, Pyxis for medication administration, and SBAR for effective communication with the care team
• Collaborate with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, rapid response teams and the broader interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Active RN experience in ICU with a minimum of 1 year ICU experience (1 year ICU required; 2 years general nursing noted)
• Trauma Level II facility experience required
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS (AHA only, no HeartCode), CHEMO certification
• Comfortable with Epic documentation and Pyxis medication system
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-acuity patients (ventilators, multi-system organ failure, CVVHD/CRRT)
• Ability to perform and maintain IV access, PICC/central line care, and blood product administration
• Willingness to wear facility-black scrubs (not provided) and complete 12-hour orientation on floor

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care/ICU nursing and oncology-focused critical care
• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias; titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• CVVHD/CRRT and managing dialysis with Tablo
• Central line, PICC and port access/management; blood product administration
• Chest tube management and thoracic surgical post-op care
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), BiPAP/CPAP familiarity
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and PPE use
• Phlebotomy, emergency response, and procedural sedation monitoring
• Familiarity with monitoring tools (FloTrac/Vigileo, 12-lead EKG) and advanced cardiovascular supports (ECMO, IABP, VAD) as preferred experience
