Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality MedSurg and telemetry nursing care for a 38-bed unit (including 8 telemetry beds)
• Monitor and interpret EKG strips and telemetry, respond promptly to dysrhythmias and changes in patient status
• Collaborate with hospitalists/intensivists and interdisciplinary teams (RT and Pharmacy available 24/7)
• Use Cerner for accurate charting and handoff; conduct bedside report at shift change
• Float to telemetry and other Sacramento facilities as needed, maintaining continuity and safety of care
• Serve as reliable team member during holidays and weekends and provide break relief as charge nurse when assigned
• Participate in orientation and precepting activities to support new staff and travelers

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (able to work in California)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (per job posting)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Dysrhythmia Exam (Basic) through UNA is required — must be submitted with acceptance and completed within 24–48 hours (pass/fail; two attempts allowed; screenshot of attempts required)
• Two supervisor references at submittal (charge accepted): one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years of employment
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips and care for telemetry patients
• Comfort with fast-paced MedSurg post-op and ortho patients and a 1:5 patient ratio

Education

• Active RN license required (BSN not required)
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma acceptable

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong telemetry and EKG interpretation skills
• Solid MedSurg assessment and post-op patient management
• Proficient with Cerner EMR and bedside reporting
• Able to safely float between units and adapt to changing patient acuity
• Team-oriented communication with nursing, physicians, RT, and pharmacy
• Time management and prioritization for a fast-paced, two-hallway unit
