Shift Type: Rotating day shifts (primarily) — 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM or 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM (8- and 12-hour day shifts). Typically five 8-hour shifts per week with rotating weekday and weekend coverage; weekly 1-4 hour on-call after a shift; weekend call (Fri evening–Sun evening) approximately every 5 weeks. Day shift / rotating schedule with alternating 12-hour call teams.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile instrument trays and equipment for a broad range of procedures including ortho, neuro, general, GYN, ENT, plastics and robotics
• Assist surgeons during cases — anticipate instrument needs and maintain a sterile field for patient safety
• Support robotic-assisted surgery set-up and intraoperative workflow for DaVinci procedures
• Perform perioperative care tasks including instrument counts, equipment checks, and turnover between cases to keep suites moving
• Document intraoperative events accurately in EPIC and communicate effectively with the surgical team
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergent cases (including pediatrics in emergency situations)
• Adhere to hospital infection control rules and professional policies (e.g., fingernail/artificial nail policy)

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years surgical tech/OR experience (experience in neuro and ortho required)
• Robotics (DaVinci) experience required
• BLS certification required
• CST preferred but not required
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Familiarity with EPIC charting preferred
• Comfort working in a Level I trauma OR with a high-volume, varied case mix
• Ability to meet facility clinical competency requirements across specialties

Knowledge & Skills

• Operating Room procedures and sterile technique
• Robotic-assisted surgery (DaVinci)
• Neuro surgery and orthopaedic procedures (ORIFs, IM nails, spine, craniotomies, shunts)
• Laparoscopic and general surgery cases (chole, appendectomy, hernia, bowel)
• GYN, GU, ENT, plastics, thoracic and endoscopy case familiarity
• Use of O-arm, Stealth navigation, and holmium laser systems
• Instrument management, surgical counts, and perioperative patient care
• EPIC charting experience and acute care documentation
