Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends. Day shift: 3x12 (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM). Night shift: 3x12 (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Up to 6 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule (Saturday/Sunday for day shift; Friday/Saturday for night shift). Block schedules and rotating holidays required.
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $60 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert, compassionate care for adult CVICU patients, including post-op cardiac surgery and complex ventricular support cases
- Perform advanced hemodynamic monitoring and manage Pulmonary Artery (Swan-Ganz) catheters to optimize patient outcomes
- Manage ventilated patients and titrate ventilator settings and vasoactive drips safely and effectively
- Operate and care for mechanical circulatory support devices such as IABP, Impella and VADs when required
- Participate in ECMO patient care protocols and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams during high-acuity situations
- Administer and monitor procedural and continuous IV sedation, blood products, and emergency medications
- Respond to cardiac dysrhythmias and lead emergent interventions with calm, confident clinical judgment
- Document care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team
Qualifications
- Active RN license (state of Ohio) required
- BLS and ACLS required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Cardiac ICU/CVICU or equivalent critical care experience preferred
- Demonstrated competency in IV start, telemetry, ventilator management, Swan-Ganz/PA line management, conscious sedation and balloon pump care
- Epic charting experience required
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
- Previous travel/agency experience preferred but not required
- Ability and willingness to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity; orientation of 36 hours required
Knowledge & Skills
- Hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Advanced cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Management of mechanical circulatory support: IABP, Impella, LVAD/VAD and temporary pacemakers
- Experience with ECMO care and CRRT/CVVHD management
- Proficiency in ventilator management, tracheostomy care and high flow nasal cannula
- Central line and PICC care, arterial line management, chest tube management and mass transfusion protocols
- Ability to titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips and manage continuous IV sedation/paralytics
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and teamwork in a high-acuity CVICU setting
