Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the step-down unit
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and hemodynamic data to spot changes early
• Perform thorough assessments and implement timely interventions
• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care plans
• Administer medications and manage IV therapies safely and accurately
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, and discharge plans
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the medical record
• Respond effectively to emergencies and escalate concerns when needed

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or eligible for licensure
• Current BLS certification required
• ACLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Experience in step-down, telemetry, or progressive care settings preferred
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Education

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (ASN/BSN) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Clinical assessment of acutely ill and transitioning patients
• IV therapy, medication administration, and infusion management
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate documentation
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and respond in rapidly changing situations
• Patient and family education with a compassionate approach
