Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a Medical-Surgical unit
• Perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, and evaluate patient responses
• Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, following facility protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—physicians, therapists, and support staff—to coordinate care
• Monitor and document patient status and interventions in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families on condition management, medications, and discharge plans
• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and escalate concerns appropriately
• Contribute to unit quality improvement initiatives and maintain a safe care environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Louisiana licensure required or eligibility to obtain
• Experience or interest in Medical-Surgical nursing (current Med/Surg skills are a plus)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) preferred where applicable
• Strong clinical assessment skills, critical thinking, and excellent communication
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules as needed
• Current CPR certification and adherence to facility immunization and competency standards

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of Med/Surg nursing principles and common medical conditions
• Proficient with medication administration, IV therapy, and patient assessment
• Comfortable using electronic health records for documentation and order verification
• Skilled in patient and family education with clear, compassionate communication
• Team-oriented with strong time management and prioritization skills
