Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate pre-operative nursing care for pediatric patients
• Perform pre-op assessments and prepare patients and families for procedures
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff to ensure smooth handoffs
• Document clinical findings and communicate changes in patient status promptly
• Support a calm, child-friendly environment and educate families on pre-op instructions
• Participate in orientation and compliance training to maintain high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure — ability to practice in Missouri is required
• Experience in pre-operative nursing and working with pediatric patients preferred
• Current BLS certification required; PALS preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable with short-duration (4-hour) procedural/pre-op assignments
• Ability to pass standard background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements
• Excellent communication skills and a patient- and family-centered approach

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of pediatric pre-operative assessment and preparation
• Skill in IV starts, vital sign monitoring, and basic pediatric procedures
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and clear clinical documentation
• Strong teamwork, adaptability, and the ability to work efficiently in perioperative settings
• Patient education skills and the ability to reassure families before procedures
