Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor medical-surgical patients, identifying changes in condition quickly
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following established protocols
• Coordinate patient care with physicians, therapists and multidisciplinary team members
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes accurately in the medical record
• Provide patient and family education to support recovery and safe discharge
• Participate actively in orientation and unit-based training to maintain high standards
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring peers and sharing best practices

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana (or compact RN license where applicable)
• Experience in Medical-Surgical nursing; strong clinical assessment skills
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications (ACLS, PALS) a plus
• Current immunizations and ability to meet facility health requirements
• Reliable clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Willingness to participate in orientation and ongoing professional development

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment and clinical monitoring for adult medical-surgical patients
• Safe medication administration and IV therapy knowledge
• Proficient documentation practices and comfort with electronic health records
• Care coordination and discharge planning skills
• Effective communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Time management and prioritization in a busy inpatient setting
