Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver safe, compassionate nursing care to Med/Surg patients with attention to detail
• Perform thorough patient assessments and communicate changes to the care team
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, following facility policies
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement effective care plans
• Document patient care clearly and promptly in the electronic medical record
• Provide education and support to patients and families about conditions and discharge plans
• Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers to ensure smooth patient flow
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana (required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Med/Surg clinical experience preferred
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and functioning well in a fast-paced hospital environment
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)
• BSN preferred where available

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical assessment and patient monitoring
• Medication administration and IV therapy
• Proficient with electronic medical records and documentation
• Prioritization and time management on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Patient and family education
• Team collaboration and effective handoff communication
