Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a Med/Surg unit, prioritizing safety and dignity
• Perform thorough patient assessments and implement appropriate plans of care
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while monitoring patient responses
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure smooth patient transitions and continuity of care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge instructions in clear, supportive language
• Document care and patient progress accurately in the electronic health record

Qualifications

• Current RN license valid for practice in Louisiana
• Experience or comfort working in Med/Surgical nursing (prior Med/Surg experience preferred)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred or obtainable
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts and adapt to rotating schedules

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of Med/Surgical nursing principles and best practices
• Medication administration and IV therapy competency
• Proficiency with electronic health records and accurate clinical documentation
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to triage, prioritize and respond to changes in patient condition
