Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating room by selecting and arranging instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Maintain strict sterile technique and ensure aseptic environment throughout cases
• Anticipate surgeon needs and hand instruments with speed, accuracy, and professionalism
• Perform instrument counts and documentation to support patient safety and regulatory compliance
• Assist with patient positioning and safe transport into and out of the OR when required
• Collaborate closely with nurses, anesthesiologists, and surgeons to deliver efficient, high-quality care
• Clean, decontaminate, and restock OR rooms between cases to maintain workflow

Qualifications

• Surgical Technology certificate or diploma; Associate degree in Surgical Technology is a plus
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or equivalent certification where applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or willingness to obtain
• Prior OR experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred; confident handling common surgical instruments and procedures
• Strong team player with attention to detail, excellent communication, and ability to work in fast-paced environments
• Valid state licensure/credentials per Pennsylvania requirements (if applicable)

Education

• Surgical Technology certificate/diploma or Associate degree in Surgical Technology
• BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and infection control practices
• Familiarity with common surgical instruments and procedural trays
• Ability to anticipate procedural needs and manage instrument flow
• Strong time management and situational awareness in the OR
• Accurate documentation skills and familiarity with basic electronic health records
• Professional communication with surgical team members and perioperative staff
