Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections accurately and compassionately
• Label, process, and prepare specimens for transport while ensuring chain-of-custody
• Maintain specimen integrity by following proper handling, storage, and transport procedures
• Provide respectful patient care and clear communication to reduce anxiety during draws
• Document procedures and patient information accurately in clinical records
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and facility policies at all times
• Participate in training during the initial 2-week orientation and mentor others as needed

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred
• High school diploma or GED required
• BLS/CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
• Comfortable performing routine venipuncture and specimen handling
• Reliable availability for Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM schedule
• Professional demeanor, strong attention to detail, and excellent patient interaction skills

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
• Knowledge of specimen labeling, processing, and transport requirements
• Familiarity with infection control and bloodborne pathogen precautions
• Strong documentation and basic computer/EMR navigation skills
• Calm, empathetic patient communication and bedside manner
