Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity Med Surg Telemetry nursing care for adults and geriatric patients in a comprehensive cancer center
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and assess/interpret dysrhythmias, initiating appropriate interventions
• Participate actively on Rapid Response/Code teams when needed to support urgent patient needs
• Administer IV therapy, manage central/PICC lines, and handle blood product administration safely
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, document care accurately in Epic, and communicate changes to the team
• Support infection prevention and fall-prevention protocols to keep patients safe
• Float between MedSurg, PCU, and specialty oncology units (BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, surgical oncology, etc.) with professionalism
• Assist with oncology-related care when applicable, including safe handling/monitoring of chemotherapy per unit preference

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state requirements apply; compact licensure helpful)
• Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity Med Surg Telemetry (or higher) experience — must meet requirements within the last 3 years with at least 1 year of current specialty experience for clinical pass
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
• Oncology certifications (OCN, ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Travel nursing experience preferred; comfortable floating between MedSurg and PCU/Oncology units
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry patient ratios (PCU 1:3, Med Surg Tele typically 1:4; may experience 1:5)

Education

• Active RN licensure required; ADN or BSN strongly preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation/management
• Epic charting and electronic documentation
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral/central line and PICC management
• Blood product administration and heparin/PCA protocol familiarity
• Rapid Response/Code team participation and emergency response skills
• Infection prevention, isolation precautions and fall prevention strategies
• Experience with respiratory supports (HFNC, chest tube management, BiPAP/CPAP) and postoperative care
• Comfort with oncology care basics (administration/monitoring of chemotherapy) a plus
