Shift Type: Night, 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM; rotating schedule with variable weekends; shift assignments assessed every 4-week scheduling period. Orientation: Week 1 Mon-Fri dayshift; Week 2 36 hours on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to adults and geriatric patients with solid tumor diagnoses
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret dysrhythmias to rapidly identify and escalate cardiac concerns
• Administer and manage IV therapy, central line blood draws, port access, and blood product administration safely
• Support infection prevention and patient falls prevention initiatives to keep patients safe
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members (PT, RT, pharmacy, social work, radiology) to coordinate care
• Assist with chemotherapy administration when appropriate and follow oncology-specific protocols
• Float to other MedSurg oncology units as needed while maintaining high standards of care
• Document care accurately in EPIC and participate in unit-based quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• BLS certification (required)
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (must meet requirements within the 3 most recent years; at least 1 year of current specialty experience required for clinical pass)
• Oncology nursing experience preferred but not required
• EPIC computerized charting experience (required)
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills and central line/port management preferred
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Comfort with telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
• Willingness to learn, grow your nursing practice, and float to other MedSurg Oncology units

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry interpretation and continuous cardiac monitoring
• Dysrhythmia recognition and basic management
• Starting and maintaining peripheral IVs, central line blood draws, and port access
• Blood product administration and safe chemotherapy practices
• Infection prevention protocols and patient falls prevention strategies
• Tracheostomy care/management and basic respiratory support awareness
• Proficiency with EPIC charting and familiarity with Alaris pumps and GE B450 telemetry monitors
• Strong clinical judgment, patient education skills, and teamwork
