Roles & Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens accurately and compassionately from patients of all ages
• Label and process specimens following strict chain-of-custody and quality guidelines
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace and ensure equipment is calibrated and stocked
• Communicate clearly with patients and clinical staff to provide smooth sample collection
• Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to protect patients and team members
• Document collection details thoroughly in the patient record and lab systems
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance lab operations and patient care

Qualifications

• Current phlebotomy certification or successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfortable interacting with patients in a professional, patient-centered way
• Attention to detail and commitment to accurate specimen handling and documentation
• Prior lab phlebotomy or clinical experience is a plus but enthusiastic learners are welcome

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy program preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
• Familiarity with specimen labeling, handling, and proper transport procedures
• Strong patient communication and bedside manner
• Basic computer skills and comfort using electronic health records
• Knowledge of infection control, OSHA standards, and lab safety practices
• Good organizational skills and ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
