Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform microscopic review and interpretation of cytology specimens using ThinPrep protocols with care and accuracy
- Prepare, stain, and process cytology samples while maintaining strict quality control standards
- Collaborate closely with pathologists by preparing and documenting detailed case findings
- Maintain accurate, timely records in the laboratory information system and ensure specimens are traceable
- Follow all lab safety, infection control, and regulatory procedures to protect patients and staff
- Complete required checklists and competency assessments (Trinity Skills Checklist) to ensure ongoing proficiency
- Communicate effectively with clinical teams and contribute to a positive, patient-focused lab culture
Qualifications
- ASCP Thin Prep certification (required)
- ASCP certification preferred/maintained
- BLS certification
- Ability to pass Trinity Skills Checklist, license/certificate verification, and required health screenings
- Up-to-date immunizations and ability to complete Fit Test, drug screen, and color vision testing as required by the facility
- Active or eligible state laboratory license if applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Practical expertise with ThinPrep cytology techniques and specimen preparation
- Proficient microscopy and slide evaluation skills with strong attention to cellular detail
- Knowledge of staining procedures, lab quality control, and specimen handling best practices
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems and accurate documentation practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with pathologists and clinical teams
- Dependability, time management, and a commitment to patient-centered care
