Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy and other treatments safely and accurately following protocols
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor for treatment responses and adverse effects
• Document all care and medication administration in Cerner in a timely and precise manner
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient-focused care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment plans and self-care needs
• Respond promptly to patient changes and urgent clinical situations to maintain safety
• Maintain infection control and safe handling procedures for oncology medications
• Support unit staffing needs including occasional floating to other med-surg units when requested

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience (experience: 2)
• BLS certification (required)
• Chemo certification preferred
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Comfort working with oncology patients and administering chemotherapy
• Team player attitude and willingness to learn in a fast-paced unit

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing expertise and chemotherapy administration
• Proficiency using Cerner electronic medical record
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills
• Ability to manage med administration and IV/venous access care
• Familiarity with med-surg equipment and safe handling of hazardous drugs
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Comfort working with patient ratios typically 1:4 or 1:5
